SEVA for WESRSEVA is a user-friendly environment or an ‘intelligent dynamic dashboard’ that allows for the seamless integration of multiple data mechanisms, from content and knowledge management, to data searches and filtered queries, to data visualization, storytelling, and sharing, in order to intelligently link various types of heterogeneous data. SEVA for WESR is currently in Beta phase and prior registration is needed to access the journeys. Contact: UNEP/Africa Region |
SEVA Air and Water QualityThis SEVA data Journey focuses on air and water quality in selected African cities: Addis- Ababa, Cape Town and Nairobi. Each journey provides access to different data streams from multiple perspectives – environmental, economic, and social. (such as: geospatial data, environmental agreements, scientific reports, and others). (Prior registration needed) Contact: UNEP/Africa Region |

SEVA tutorials and User guideTraining materials to support the use and backend management of the SEVA tool. These documents helps the user to create Data Journeys, upload new data, annotate each state and customize the data story. Contact: UNEP/Africa Region |
SEVA Training Demo videoA SEVA demonstration video illustrates how the web tool integrated a variety of UN contents and services into the intelligent dashboard. It is a step by step on how to create a data journey and curate every state. Contact: UNEP/Africa Region |
Urban Air Quality Community of Practice PlatformThe majority (90%) of countries in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) are categorized as low, and middle-income. The air quality in most of the cities in these countries do not meet World Health Organization (WHO) guideline for ambient air quality. According to Global Burden of Disease (GBD) study, ambient and indoor air pollutions is estimated to be the cause of over 750 000 deaths per year. Urban populations in Ethiopia, Kenya and South Africa have an average annual outdoor exposure to PM2.5 particles above the WHO Air Quality guideline recommended maximum level of 10 mg/m3. The estimated deaths from air pollution are from outdoor air pollution exposure from particulate matter and household air pollution from burning of biomass. Indoor air pollution is a challenge due to use of biomass in households in both rural and urban households whilst transport, industry, open waste burning are major outdoor air pollution sources in urban areas. Different countries and cities in Africa have put in place institutional and legislative frameworks to deal with the challenges of urban air pollution with different levels of success. The community of practice platform developed with the support of China Trust Fund will provide the space for the cities to share their experiences in managing air quality and enable access to best practices for the cities as they advance their objectives of improving air quality management in their areas of jurisdiction.
