The World Environment Situation Room (WESR) is a single-entry door data platform to all UNEP knowledge on the environment. It is a distributed data platform, allowing users to access the best available environmental data, information, and knowledge to support decision and policy making and to accelerate collective action on the environment at the global, regional, and national levels. WESR is positioned as a UNEP-wide global digital platform that allows UN bodies, governments, the private and public sector to visualize and navigate critical data and information about the state of, and pressures/impacts on, the world environment.

WESR, as a federated data system, aims to provide data products and services to support member countries, major stakeholders and partners for timely and smart management and policy making. WESR leverages capacities within a network of partner organizations including UN entities, regional and national organizations, and the established network of GRIDs and collaborating centers. The federated data system brings together over 45 data platforms and 70 data sources.
